Rand's chances for finishing the race ended abruptly with mechanical problems. I believe the GTSR experienced brake problems. Rand was back out later in the afternoon. |

The grass near the pits caught fire from the hot fluid and exhaust as Jim briefly pulled the smoking Vette off the pit exit. |

Junior ran well throughout most of the race, but his Roadster soon began overheating and forced him to back off a bit. Skip Thomas showed promise with
his new set up appearing to be dialing in. SVSi later found a blown relay for the cooling fans apparently caused the overheating. |
