Skip Thomas comes over to
congratulate Steve Thorne. Steve won the door to door competition at

Chris Barones toothed GTS. The
teeth are now airbrushed on. They were an idea from his kid. Chris’s
GTS sounds like no other in the Series, sounding much like an older
Formula 1 car on steroids...
Frank Parise; ‘The Mad
Italian’. One of the Dessert Venom Racing pack. Previously
blue, Frank’s GTS is now a cool looking burnt orange. |

Another wicked Viper of the
Dessert Venom Racing pack. |

1999 Dodge Durango Shelby.
Hillsdale Dodge provided the awesome and rare Shelby, and it was a
great pace truck for the final 1998 Challenge Series
Race. |
|
|
|
Sporting a Kenne Bell blown
360 V8, 4 leather racing buckets, trick wheels and suspension,
sticky and stiff tires, and a wicked looking Shelby flavored
cosmetic package, this Durango is nothing to toy with! This thing is
powerful and nimble. It handles like you’d never believe.... bad
truck. |

Frank Barba’s ‘sublime’ RT/10.
It just had a custom rollbar installed in it from SVSi. Frank was
the 1998 Challenge Series Points Winner. He’s a dedicated racer and
father as well. Anyone attending the Challenge Series races knows
Franks kids and wife as dedicated supporters of dad’s racing. The
Challenge Series is fun for everyone. Frank also won the overall
points championship for the year! |

Awesome factory

Larry Hampton’s beautiful
‘Hampton Racing’ RT/10 bumble-bee. |

Howie Frank’s nasty Unlimited
Viper. Howie is one to watch for excitement on the track in the
Challenge Series. |

Super Viper Systems’ White
Kaos RT/10. Ron Misjak Jr was a first place podium winner many times
in the Unlimited Pro class during 1998. Winter storms in the North
delayed the arrival of SVS vehicles, and a rainy Saturday plagued
the SVS guys with short track testing and limited time
runs. |

Junior flat spots the right
front tire of the SVS 03 Kaos car while passing Howie Frank into
turn 1. They were battling all the way down the straight, when Jr’s
aggresive cornering was fouled by the right front tire briefly
locking. It was later discovered there was a 125 lb. weight
difference in the right front. Junior was later quoted as saying;
“well..that was a quick $400....that’s racing.” |

|
The trees of Roebling Road. A
great little track tucked away in the woods of
Savannah. |
|
|
|
Junior takes time out from
time runs to get in some Space Invaders. Actually he was getting set
up to do further fuel curve mapping on the new SVS Twin Turbo
‘Stryker’ car. Savannah was the first track time the new twin-turbo
had ever seen. |
|
|
|
Eric Messley was driving Ron
Levi’s awesome GTS race car. This car was one of the more trick
Vipers at Savannah. LCD readout and driver controlled brake bias and
shock settings were among the full race features of this
GTS. |

Two Vipers duke it out down
the long straightaway of Roebling Road. |
